Events
School events bring learning to life and help shape our school culture by helping students and their families connect with others and celebrate achievement.
Events at George Bass School include:
- Sports carnivals in athletics, swimming and soccer
- Cultural recognition days
- Performances, concerts and special assemblies
- Excursions and incursions
- Fundraising, charity and social activities
- Curriculum focused events such as Public Education Week and National Simultaneous Storytime
- Celebrations and award ceremonies
We also have special events to support transitions such as orientation days for new students, Year 6 Celebration Day and Year 12 Graduation.

Athletics Carnival
Monday 15 June - 9:30-1:00
Our annual athletics carnival showcases the students' sporting and fundamental movement skills. It's an opportunity to score points for their house while having fun and experiencing some friendly competition. Students work on these skills in the whole school sports program, 'George Bass Olympics' each week. Parents and families welcome.
Parent Workshop: Planet Puberty
Tuesday 23 June - 9:30-10:30
Helping parents of kids with intellectual disability and autism navigate a new world. Planet Puberty is your guide in your child’s journey through puberty.
NAIDOC Incursion - 50 Years of Deadly
Thursday 2 July
NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
School Disco and Mufti Day
Friday 3 July
Students are encouraged to wear mufti and dance the day away at our fundraising disco to raise money for additional school programs , events and experiences. Pay in cash on the day, or through the School Bytes app.
